Locations within the Lyrius Estate can best be described by whether they are inside the Manor Wall of the complex in the heart of the estate or if they are outside of the Manor Wall and in the wooded area around the complex, set within the sixteen square miles of the estate.
Buildings Inside the Manor Wall
Perhaps the largest buildings on the estate is the Manor House. The Manor House has three floors. The basement is specific to the staff of the Manor, as such it holds bedrooms for the staff, the butlers, cooks, chambermaids, and handmaidens; as well as the Kitchens where food for staff, visitors, and the nobility is made.
The first floor is taken up by the Great Hall, a large main room where there are tables for meals and the Great Throne of Lyrius, which has sat empty for nearly two years now; the library, where Lady Amalthea keeps her not insubstantial collection of books, scrolls, and manuscripts.
The second floor is made up exclusively of chambers for the Lyrius family and the most honored of guests.
There are several smaller cottages scattered around the complex inside the wall. There are many types of cottage and they serve many functions.
Some of these are dedicated guest homes, each containing a single room with a bed, wardrobe, and a small privy with washing basin.
There are also a number of staff cottages each designed to house three to four members of the staff who are not assigned to the kitchens or bedchambers in the main house, these contain a privy and sink as well as four beds.
There are also cottages for nobles who have taken up residence at the estate, these cottages are larger with a living area to have guests, a small bedroom, a privy, and a small enclosed porch.
Among these cottages is Lady Amalthea's private cottage, though she lives mostly in the Manor house, she is known to withdraw to her private cottage from time to time and as she takes no visitors, very little is known about the inside of her cottage.
Other buildings located in the main complex are a large laundry where clothing and bedding are cleaned and repaired, a large storehouse where food and supplies are kept including a small smokehouse for salting and smoking meats and a mill for grinding winter wheat into flour for bread, a workshop where wood and metal are used to build anything needed for the estate, and a large stables where riding animals and beasts of burden are kept and tended to.
Buildings Outside the Manor Wall
There is a well worn path from the Manor and it's wall to the Temple of Aura. Located right on the cliffs overlooking the Sea of Shards. The largest temple on the grounds this temple has a number of rooms ranging from the larger main chapel area to a large birthing room where female members of the Lyrius family and honored guests give birth. It also has a small bedroom area for the Family's Priestess of Aura.Categories: No categories found
