The vast icy continent of Indra is the setting of our story. Many years ago an ice mage climbed the steps of the Crystal Tower and claimed a seat as one of the 4 deities of Indra, his power echoing through the land and plunging the known world into a never ending winter. And life went on. Winter Wheat grew in the fields, it's roots cutting through snow and ice to find the dirt below, and new fruiting bodies were discovered in deep caves and cultivated to feed the masses. Time drew on, 26 days a month, 13 months a year, for more than a thousand years...
The throne of the Lyrius Grand Hall has stood empty for almost two years. No one has seen or heard from Lord Ambrose since and the Lady Amalthea has taken over the day to day running of Lyrius. In only the last month she had opened the doors of her father's massive estate and welcomes travelers from all over, expressing a great interest in sages and magi coming. Rumors abound as to the location of her father and her motives in opening the estate, but very little is known for certain. What is really going on? Where is Lord Ambrose? What is Lady Amalthea up to? There is only one way to find out.
Situated overlooking the northern coast of the Sea of Shards, Lyrius is an ancient massive Elven estate nestled in the ancient trees on the very edge of the Northern Wood. The coastal road is the best way to travel and offers beautiful vistas of both the vast expanse of the Plain of Sighs to the east and the seemingly never ending Sea of Shards to the west. An ideal location, situated almost exactly halfway between the massive multicultural city of Thalian and the Old Wood Road that winds into the Northern Wood all the way to the elven city of Kaliana.
Inspired by works such as The Lord of the Rings, A Song of Fire and Ice, Galavant, and games like Dungeons and Dragons and The Elder Scrolls, Lyrius in a fantasy roleplaying group in which players take the role of a visitor or member of the Lyrius Estate. Focusing on the day to day drama of the royal court of Lyrius and those who both call the estate home and those who are only passing through, Lyrius is less plot focused and more focused on the interpersonal drama and political intrigue. As such it is not episodic or serialized, but instead players can create their own plot lines or join each other in smaller plot threads. The GM's central plot line may be participated or not at players discretion. All plot lines are subject to GM approval to ensure story threads fit well in the world of Lyrius.
Lyrius is a 2.2.2 roleplaying community. With a character focus swearing, sex, and violence are allowed, but as Lyrius is meant to have a fantasy soap opera feel, with a heavy focus on intrigue and melodrama, swearing, sex, and violence should be used only to enhance the story and not be the primary focus of it.
